2020 has been a tough year, but it’s been especially hard for our babies with birthdays. Gone are the days of big blowout birthday parties! For many of us, even grandparents are celebrating virtually with us. Birthdays look a little different this year. My family has always celebrated simple, but we’ve always made sure to make time for the important milestone photo shoots.

You may not know when a cake smash happens or you may even be wondering what the heck is a cake smash?!?

A cake smash is a very special photo session that celebrates a birthday - it can be any year but it is typically a first birthday. It marks your baby making it one whole year, but also YOU making it this first year as a parent! That’s no small accomplishment and you deserve to remember it.

Cake smashes happen 3-4 weeks before your little ones first birthday. It’s best that they occur before baby can walk - it is much more challenging to capture them once they’ve reached this milestone. I’m sure you have an idea of just how hard it is to get a mobile baby to stay where you want them!

You don’t need to bring anything but your baby! Lia Christina Photography provides it all - the cake, the decorations, and even the outfits if requested. We truly have it all and we want to make this special for YOU!

There does not need to be a theme but I’m always excited to share some of my favorite ideas with you. I love incorporating themes that are meaningful to your family. There will be formal portraits on a simple backdrop as well that are always grandparent’s favorite gifts.
