What To Bring To Your Newborn Photo Session

Congratulations! Your little one is here and it’s time to schedule their newborn photo shoot. It’s an exciting time but you’re a little nervous and unsure of what to bring.

If you are a client of LCP then you have been provided with a very thorough and carefully crafted prep guide that includes what to wear, when to feed baby before, how to prepare baby, and what to bring with.

If not, don’t worry! We always love to help.

The simple answer for what you need to bring is really.. nothing! We don’t want you to worry about bringing a thing to your session. We have everything that perfectly fits newborns - from headbands, to sleepers, to baskets that are just right. For safety reasons, we limit any outside props to just family heirlooms.

In your diaper bag: Necessary times for feeding whether that’s a nipple shield, breast pump, expressed milk, or formula. We ask that you come prepared to feed your baby on demand. This is a big day for them and most babies tend to eat a little more often during their photo shoots. They’re still adapting to the world and many will be cluster feeding.

A pacifier: this helps us make sure we can safely soothe and pose your baby. We are trained in recognizing the distinction between nutritive sucking and comfort sucking. Your baby will never be deprived of milk but sometimes they just need a little sucking comfort. A pacifier at the session will not disrupt any breastfeeding efforts and you can read post by local lactation consultant Love & Lactation to learn about the myth of nipple confusion.

A warm blanket from home: a little blanket from home that smells like home can help soothe baby in between posing. It’s a nice extra touch to keep close to us as we care for your precious newborn.

We have diapers, wipes, snacks, and more at our studio. You name it, we probably have it! If we don’t, we can get it for you in a flash.
